I have been asked quite a bit if Young Living is like doTERRA. The two are similar in that they are both essential oil direct selling companies, but there are quite a few differences. Without bashing any companies, here are 5 ways doTERRA differs from Young Living – and why I ultimately chose YL.
1. doTERRA was founded in 2008 by former members of Young Living.
Young Living was founded in 1993 by husband/wife team Gary & Mary Young. Prior to this, Gary owned a naturopathic clinic where he specialized in herbs and essential oils.
2. doTERRA is not an accredited member of the BBB.
(*CORRECTION* They are an accredited member now with an A+ rating. Go doTERRA!
Young Living IS an accredited member of the BBB.
3. doTERRA is not a member of the DSA. (no link)
Young Living is a member of the DSA.
4. doTERRA has 3 exclusive essential oils and 19 exclusive oil blends. (website count)
Young Living has 46 exclusive essential oils and 86 exclusive oil blends. (website count)
5. doTERRA contracts with local growers and relies on their expertise to grow, harvest, and distill the oils.
Young Living owns its own organic farms, has exclusive partnerships with 5 countries, and holds itself to a seed to seal standard.
There’s more, but those are just 5 of the reasons I chose Young Living over doTERRA.
