Why Essential Oils: A Natural Way to Help Calm Children

Why use Essential Oils? Help relieve your child’s anxiety with this calming inhaler formulated specifically for little ones.

Using inhalers with essential oils can be a great way for kids (from five to twelve years old) to calm themselves down.

When kids get anxious or can’t sleep, using their inhaler is something they can do themselves that they don’t have to ask permission for, so it’s very empowering. It’s also fun to let kids pick the color of their inhaler, so it’s even more their own!

I had planned for this recipe to be:

3 drops Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
3 drops Orange (Citrus sinensis)
2 drops Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana)

But the essential oils come out of the bottles fast, and I got 5 drops of Lavender instead of 3! That’s okay—these oils are very safe for kids. I just adjusted the recipe to accommodate for the extra Lavender.

So the NEW recipe is:

5 drops Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) (1:09)
3 drops Orange (Citrus sinensis) (1:52)
3 drops Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana) (1:59)

If you’ve never used an essential oil inhaler, you can see me demonstrate at 2:22. Kids have no problems using them.

Good news! Aromatics International recently started carrying inhalers with organic wicks. You can find those here:
