An essential oil recipe for a room and linen spray . . . two blends in one!
This blend is simple to make and can fill your room with gorgeous, inviting aroma. You’ll need a 1 oz (30 ml) spray bottle. I’m using cobalt blue glass. The recipe is:
1 oz (30 ml) water
5 drops Sweet Orange essential oil (Citrus sinensis) (2:07)
5 drops Frankincense essential oil (Boswellia carterii) (2:51)
2 drops Neroli essential oil (Citrus aurantium var. amara) (3:15)
Combine all the ingredients in your bottle, close it up, shake it gently, and you’re done!
We’re not using much Neroli in this recipe. That’s because Neroli essential oil has a very strong aroma, and it can easily overpower the Sweet Orange and Frankincense. It’s made from the blossoms of the bitter orange tree, and has a rich, round floral scent that’s popular in perfumes.
The Neroli is a beautiful balance for the vibrant zest of Sweet Orange, and the grounding presence of Frankincense.
Some of the essential oils in this blend, especially Sweet Orange, come out of the bottle very quickly. That’s because the oil itself is pretty thin, and tends to want to pour out of the orifice reducer in a rush! It’s okay if you accidentally get a drop or two more than you intended. Just take your time making this recipe, smell the blend after adding your drops, and be sure you love the overall aroma.
Now use your spray to freshen up your room, or to scent your linens! (It’s so comforting to crawl into blankets that smell like essential oils!) Shake the bottle gently before each use, since essential oils and water don’t mix.
I suggest making a fresh bottle of this room and linen spray every few weeks, since it’s made with no preservatives.
