Hot to use lavender oil for sleep, and does it really have all those benefits for sleep induction?
Lavender oil benefits have been known to mankind since at least middle ages. In 17 century a London apothecary wrote that this oil is great for griefs and pains. And this is confirmed by modern research – the scent of lavender eases anxiety and insomnia.
According to the research of Britain’s University of Southampton, lavender essential oil, being diffused in the air throughout the night, improves the sleep quality by 20%.
According to Psychologists at Wesleyan University, the sniffing of lavender essential oil just before bedtime, promotes sound sleep, and makes one feel refreshed in the morning.
So, while you won’t probably sleep like a baby from the use of lavender oil directly, but indirectly it will naturally support your sound sleep, because it helps to relax, especially if you not only use it in aromatherapy, but massage the essential oil into your skin (you should dilute it with a carrier oil before using on the skin), or add few drops to the hot bath to fall asleep faster.
So, use lavender essential oil for sleep, and enjoy a sound sleep at night, without the fear of insomnia.
