How to make Vegan sleep and relaxation salve/balm using Plant Therapy Lavender Essential Oils. This is an all natural, organic, cruelty free vegan sleep and relaxation salve/balm I found to be calming, and tension reliving.
Very simple homemade lavender essential oil sleep and relaxation balm. It will take less than 10 minutes to make.
I love the smell of lavender. It has such a relaxing and calming aroma and when I mix it into a balm, I can put it on right before sleep or take a moment during a stressful day to smell the aroma coming from the balm to ease my mind and relieve any tension I may be feeling.
I have a family member who has trouble sleeping and ever since I started making essential oil products for them and using aromatherapy in general to help them sleep, they’re sleeping pattern has improved. I was happy to hear they can actually sleep through the night so I thought I should share!
Candelilla Wax: 1/2 tsp
Organic African Shea Butter: 1 tsp
Virgin Coconut Oil: 1 tsp
Lavender Essential Oil: 3 drops
I combined all ingredients into a small bowl and used a double boiler method to melt all of the ingredients. I then put it into a small old travel size Nivea Creme tin pan. Let’s be Eco-friendly and put it to use! I then let it cool for about 5-10 minutes and it was ready to use.
Lavender Essential Oil is perhaps the most well-known of the essential oils and for good reason. Lavender essential oil is renowned for its many beneficial properties, including promoting calm, relaxation, and being a nervous tension reliever.
Candillila wax is a wax derived from the leaves of the candillila plant and so it is known as vegan wax. It is not derived from animal products like beeswax. A lot of DIY makeup use beeswax, but i’ve found this is an excellent alternative if you are going the vegan route. It differs from beeswax only in having a higher melting point and a more glossy finish, also because candelilla wax is more dense, one unit is roughly equal to two units of beeswax, so it is also more cost efficient.
Coconut oil acts as one of our carrier oils to dilute our Lavender essential oil. It is absorbed quickly into the skin so it is great for using with essential oils. It also has the added benefit of having antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties, making it the perfect base for any homemade skincare product.
Shea butter is incredibly moisturizing and packed with all types of benefits. It’s a great remedy for all sorts of skin conditions like acne, eczema, rosacea and psoriasis. Shea butter is also amazing at healing burns, reducing blemishes, minimizing the appearance of scars and more. I chose to use shea butter as my second carrier oil because as a carrier oil it has a slow rate of absorption which means our homemade sleep and relaxation lavender essential oil balms effects will last longer.
