We take oral health in my household very seriously and I found it challenging to find a toothpaste that actually helps improve oral health. So why not make my own? Natural Homemade Toothpaste
6 tablespoons Raw Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
8 tablespoons Baking Soda (Always Aluminum Free)
3 tablespoons of xylitol
1 tablespoon of neem powder
20-30 drops of Essential oil
Store in glass container
1. Mix baking soda and coconut oil in a glass container, until it forms a paste like consistency
2. Add essential oil of choice and mix
Suggested Essential Oils:
Cinnamon essential oil – has the greatest antimicrobial potency against the bacteria responsible for tooth decay and gum disease.
Peppermint essential oil – is extremely effective at killing bacteria that thrive in a low oxygen environment such as the mouth, and can cause gum disease.
Spearmint essential oil – is a strong antiseptic, eliminating germs and helping any wounds heal more quickly. It is also soothing to soft tissues like gum tissue.
Myrrh essential oil – acts as both an antiseptic and a soother, it supports gum health and heals mouth ulcers. Myrrh may also assist gum tissue health by supporting the flow of blood to the tissue.
Clove essential oil – inhibits many pathogenic bacteria and has strong germicidal properties. Clove has the ability to inhibit the growth of mutant and wild strains of bacteria.
