DIFFUSER TUTORIAL: How to get the most out of your essential oil diffuser

Diffusers

We use several types of diffusers in our home. In our main living spaces we have a Dewdrop Home Diffuser from Young Living that works as a humidifier and essential oil diffuser. It covers a large space so it provides the most benefit to our whole family and we love having it going nearly 24/7.
But, along with that particular diffuser we also have smaller cool mist diffusers in each kids room. They function like a night light and disperse calming blends such as lavender and cedarwood or Brain Power blends for concentration when kids are doing homework.
Thomas even has a smaller no-spill Orb type diffuser that he uses in his cubicle at work. It connects to the USB port on his computer and very quietly and unobtrusively disperses the oils.
I will include links to several options of diffusers at the bottom of this post if you’d like to take a look at the ones we use.
Another easy and inexpensive way to diffuse EOs on the go is on a simple cotton ball. When we are out and about I add a couple drops of whatever oil or blend we are the most in need of to a cotton ball and put it in our car’s air vent to disperse it throughout the car. It’s especially helpful to add a little bit of Peppermint EO to one on long car rides where I worry about getting tired from the drive!
Now for diffuser recipes. My favorite part! The nice thing about diffusers is that you can mix and match EOs for whatever purpose you are looking to serve and there really is no wrong way to do it. Here are some of my favorites for a few things we find our family needing support for:
Allergy Relief: 2 drops Lavender, 2 drops Lemon, 2 drops Peppermint
Focus: 2 drops Peppermint, 2 drops Lemon
Focus #2: 2 drops Orange, 3 drops Brain Power
Immune Booster: 3 drops Thieves, 2 drops Orange (or lemon!)
Odor Eliminator: 2 drops Lemon, 1 drop Melaleuca, 1 drop Cilantro, 1 drop Lime
Odor Eliminator #2: 3 drops Purification, 2 drops Lemon
Goodnight: 2 drops Lavender, 2 drops Chamomile, 2 drops Vetiver
Goodnight #2: 2 drops Cedarwood, 2 drops Orange, 1 drop Vetiver Stuffy Nose remedy: 2 drops Thieves, 2 drops Lavender, 2 drops RC
Congestion: 2 drops Lemon, 2 drops RC, 2 drops Lavender
Cough & Congestion: 2 drops Hyssop, 3 drops RC
These are just a few of our favorite diffuser blends. They can be added to any diffuser or reduce the quantities to one drop each to use on a cotton ball or diffuser necklace. If you’ve got questions about blends that address other specific issues please be sure and leave a comment and I can let you know which ones we have used that have worked for us!
Check out the video to see the diffuser in use and to see how easy they are set up!
