I’m going to start out by saying that the Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream is one of my all-time favorite sunscreens. It isn’t perfect, but it is a sunscreen that applies easily, works well under most foundations, and is lightly hydrating. When Cosrx initially released two new sunscreens I was excited… until I read the ingredient lists for them. I decided not to purchase them, but then I saw them on sale and I HAD to try them! Both the COSRX Shield Fit Snail Essence Sunscreen & Shield Fit All Green Comfort Sun contain essential oils, and both are rather small tubes containing 35ML of product.
The Cosrx Snail Essence Sunscreen is a chemical based SPF, which is okay for some people. It is disappointing that the Cosrx Shield Fit Snail Essence contains a very high amount of denatured alcohol. Denatured alcohol is the third ingredient in the list and you can definitely feel it and smell it upon initial application. Sunscreens are meant to help skin fight off sun damage, pollution, and protect the skin from free radical damage. Using an SPF that contains such a high amount of denatured alcohol really works again your skin and can CAUSE free radical damage. If that wasn’t disappointing enough, this contains several fragrance ingredients and bergamot oil, mandarin orange oil, and basil oil.
The COSRX Shield Fit All Green Comfort Sunscreen doesn’t contain the denatured alcohol, however, it applies very thick. Using the Shield Fit All Green Comfort SPF is tricky and I’ve found it is a little thick and has a white cast that is difficult to avoid. This SPF also causes many of my foundations to pill. Even more disappointing this sunscreen contains clary sage oil, which is used for fragrance. Of the two new SPF’s the Shield Fit All Green Comfort is definitely the better of the two since it only contains a little fragrance, and does not contain denatured alcohol.
